Vortext Best Practices
Our Spam Policy
Vortext rigorously adheres to the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 (the Act) for the execution and enforcement of our spam policy. Sending SMS spam is strictly prohibited under the Act, and will not be tolerated by Vortext. This means that users will only ever receive text messages from organisations or businesses that they have opted-in to. It also means that users can opt-out at any time and will have clear information on how to do so.
Definition of Spam
SMS spam is considered to be any unsolicited text message. This includes text messages to subscribers that are not linked to the organisation or promotion that they have specifically subscribed to. As per the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007, the term ‘spam’ relates to messages that are commercial in nature, often sent by legitimate businesses to promote products or services. These types of messages become spam when they are not requested or wanted by the receiving party.
How to Avoid Sending Spam
Step One – OPT-IN
Ensure that you have received explicit consent of all recipients of the text message.
Step Two – IDENTIFY YOUR BUSINESS
Make sure you include the name and contact details of your business in the message.
Step Three – OPT-OUT
Your customers must have the ability to unsubscribe from your database. Include information on opting-out in every text message.
Anti-Spam Policy Enforcement
Vortext takes violations of the anti-spam policy and the Act very seriously. Any user that fails to adhere to the policy will have their account immediately suspended.
For Customers
How to Report Spam
If you receive any unwanted text messages through Vortext, or believe that an organisation has used Vortext’s services inappropriately, please contact us with details. We take complaints very seriously and will look into all allegations of violation of the policy immediately.
How to Unsubscribe
By texting STOP to 4363, you will be immediately and permanently removed from the database of the organisation you last received a message from. You will no longer receive messages from that organisation. If you have subscribed to other organisations or promotions (i.e. different keywords), you will remain on the those lists until you unsubscribe from them.
